Anxiety

Anxiety is what we feel when we are worried, tense or afraid, particularly about things that are about to happen. It’s our body’s way of preparing us for a perceived threat. Sometimes it can be unhelpful if it impacts significantly upon our day to day life.

There are lots of different types of anxiety including:

·         Worry

·         Social anxiety

·         Health anxiety

·         Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

·         Panic

·         Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)

·         Specific phobias

Psychological therapy can help by exploring associated thoughts, feelings and behaviours which keep the anxiety going.
