FAQ's

How do I arrange an initial session?
If you would like to book an appointment please contact the reception team at The Wellness Centre who will pass on a message for me to call you. I will speak to you for around 10 minutes to find out whether an assessment with me is likely to be helpful.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
In most cases I am able to offer an appointment within a week.

Can I see you outside of office hours?
I may be able offer appointments outside of office hours upon request.

What can I expect during the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to find out if we could work together. Meeting for the first time can be anxiety provoking and I will do my best to make you feel comfortable. During this session I will ask you some questions to try and gain a deeper understanding of your current difficulties and what your goals are for therapy. At the end of the session we will decide how to proceed. There is no commitment to book further sessions if you decide therapy is not for you.

What happens if we agree to work together?
We will set a regular time and day each week for sessions, depending on your needs and preference. Therapy is most effective if sessions are held weekly.

How long will it take?
Anywhere from 6 to 24 sessions, depending on your needs.

Does therapy work?
There is extensive research evidence about the effectiveness of therapy for a wide variety of difficulties, evidenced within the NICE guidelines (https://www.nice.org.uk/).

Are sessions confidential?
Yes, sessions are entirely private and confidential. The only exception to this is if you were to tell me something that made me concerned that you may be at risk of harm to yourself or others. In this case I may have to break confidentiality, but would try to talk to you about this first.
